Seven Local Shops for Back to School Style

It’s that time of year again, folks! Out with the old and in with the new! If you’re like me at all, cleaning out your closet now and again feels refreshing. Here are seven of our favorite local Missoula shops to get outfitted for school season. Head back to class with class.

#1 – Betty’s Divine

If you’re looking for the trendiest clothes in Missoula, Betty’s Divine is definitely the place to go! Located in the heart of the hip-strip, Yelp gives this boutique a 4.5 out of 5-star rating. Betty’s Divine has a broad selection of clothing and accessories for both men and women, including an excellent shoe selection. Montana Community Development notes that many of the clothes and jewelry come from local designers.

#2 – Station 26

Station 26 on the north end of Higgins Street is very moderately priced for a boutique. Along with a fun selection of clothing, it has a great selection of wall decor to add some style inspiration to your bedroom.

Insider Tip: Command strips are a college kid’s best kept secret for adding a little bit of personality to your walls without ruining them. Your landlord or R.A. will be pleased with the lack of damage done to your pad too!

#3 – ReStyle Clothing Exchange

As college students, we are always looking for an opportunity to save a few bucks. Restyle Clothing Exchange located on Brooks Street makes stylish shopping on a budget a possibility. ReStyle is quick way to make some extra cash too! Bring in your own clothes for consignment and you can make back 40 percent of the item’s price.

#4 – Runner’s Edge

Back to school shopping for students who need to suit up to sweat it out may include a new set of workout attire and cross-training kicks. Runner’s Edge on Higgins Street has a 5 out of 5 star rating on Yelp and noteworthy customer service. Runner’s Edge submits a monthly newsletter to those who subscribe, keeping the community in informed about upcoming running events.

Insider Tip: Runner’s Edge has a program called Run Wild Missoula is membership-based organization that puts on races, group runs and training programs for walkers and runners in the Missoula community. The $25 yearly membership fee includes discounts for races like the Missoula Marathon. There’s also a weekly Saturday morning run that finishes with a free breakfast. Count me in!

#5 – Rockin’ Rudy’s

How does one begin to describe Rockin’ Rudy’s? It sells an eclectic mix of music, jewelry, scrapbooking supplies, clothing and gifts. This longtime Missoula hub has great Montana-made clothing for all styles and ages.

Insider Tip: A cool place to snag local concert tickets from venues such as the Top Hat, Big Sky Brewery and the Wilma Theatre.

#6 – Hide & Sole

Since 1972 Hide & Sole has provided leather goods to many Missoulians. Hide & Sole accommodates the town’s outdoorsy footwear needs selling brands such as Ecco, Keen, Merrell, Chaco, Teva and many more.
